Some of you might know that I am loading this blog from Santa Cruz Quiche, Guatemala where I have been blessed to join Agape in Action and Operation San Jose Mission Project.  I had been praying for the opportunity to serve with my camera… low and behold, I was connected with a great missions agency and a wonderful team of surgeons, doctors, and nurses. Today, I was an eye witness to selflessness and servanthood when the medical team evaluated roughly 30-40 patients for cleft palate an cleft lip surgeries. Hopefully I will be able to capture the trip and tell the story well so that you can follow the team throughout the week. I am thankful to be here and honored that I get to see talented people give children new smiles!

Meet Jessica Edquist (pink shirt), she is my long-time friend and Chief Operating Officer of Agape in Action. You could mistaken her for Angelina Jolie, roaming through the streets of developing countries, looking for kids to love on. I love to watch her in action.

We were able to go into town today for the local market. I wanted to load just a few to show how colorful the afternoon was!

These are just a few of the many patients that have come from all over Guatemala, hoping for the chance that they will be a candidate for surgery. For some of the children it will be their first and for other it will not.

I’ve been praying for you, Natalie, and for the surgical patients to be found. It looks like that prayer has been answered.

Wonderful mission! Of course I would think a medical mission is wonderful especially for children. As usual, your pictures are top notch. I’m so glad we have physicans who are interested in healing the most unfortunate of our world. A “sea section”. No Nat, A C-section short for a Cesarian section. How in the world did you watch it when you couldn’t even stand for me to talk about any surgery? And to think your Mother’s epidural was only minimally sucessful. Your Daddy even wanted to leave the room! Love Nana

I love you Nat and your amazing HUGE heart. You are doing some things for some who’s lives will be changed forever, parent(s) included. They will never forget you, glory be to God! It is obviously, first and foremost, a “calling” from him and a small part of the many things you do for others. We can all “see” the compassion as well as the passion in your work (pics and the stories you share). Be safe, and thankful you got the opportunity.
